Talking about sexuality in the 1970s was generally unacceptable in polite circles and living a sexually non-standard life was either illegal or unforgivable. Sex before marriage was a contested issue among many others, and those that broke ranks were considered radicals. At FPANSW we were at the vanguard of change, challenging conservative thinking and advancing women’s rights. We also had fun doing it. They were heady times.
